Firefighters quickly extinguish attic fire in Syracuse home

Syracuse, N.Y. — Firefighters quickly extinguished an attic fire late Sunday in a home in Syracuse’s Valley neighborhood.
The fire at 107 Brooklea Place was reported at about 10:10 p.m.
Firefighters brought down part of the ceiling to get water on the flames, according to Deputy Fire Chief Nick Pagano. It took only a few minutes to put out the fire, he said.
Crews donned medical masks as they checked the attic’s blown-in insulation for any hidden fire.
The people living inside the house were able to get out on their own, Pagano said.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
